Job Summary:
The Emergency Room (ER) Nurse provides immediate and high-quality nursing care to patients presenting with acute illnesses, trauma, or life-threatening conditions. The role requires rapid assessment, prioritization, and intervention to stabilize patients, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Clinical Duties
- Perform rapid triage and assess patients based on severity of condition.
- Provide immediate nursing care in emergency situations, including trauma, cardiac arrest, and critical illnesses.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and emergency treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor patient vital signs and clinical status continuously.
- Assist physicians during emergency procedures (e.g., intubation, resuscitation, wound care).
- Handle trauma cases, fractures, burns, and acute medical conditions.
- Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures and surgeries.
Emergency Response
- Respond promptly to emergency codes (Code Blue, trauma calls).
- Perform CPR and advanced life support interventions.
- Ensure readiness of emergency equipment and crash carts.
Documentation & Compliance
- Accurately document patient conditions, care provided, and outcomes.
- Maintain patient records in line with hospital policies and UAE healthcare regulations.
- Ensure compliance with DHA / DOH / MOH standards and infection control protocols.
Coordination & Communication
- Collaborate with physicians, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families during stressful situations.
- Provide discharge instructions and patient education.
Quality & Safety
- Follow safety protocols and infection control measures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Report incidents and adverse events appropriately.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSc Nursing) or equivalent.
License:
- Valid UAE License or eligibility (DHA / DOH / MOH).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – mandatory.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification – required.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in Emergency / Critical Care setting.
- Experience in trauma handling and acute care preferred.
Required Skills:
- Strong clinical assessment and triage skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments.
- Critical thinking and quick decision-making.
- Excellent communication and teamwork.
- Knowledge of emergency protocols and equipment.
Working Conditions:
- Rotational shifts (day/night/weekends/holidays).
- High-stress, fast-paced environment.
- On-call duties may be required.
