Qualifications
Job Summary:
The Audiologist is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients with hearing and balance disorders. The role involves conducting diagnostic tests, fitting and programming hearing devices, and providing rehabilitation and counseling to patients in line with UAE healthcare regulations and clinical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment & Diagnosis
- Conduct comprehensive hearing and balance assessments using audiological equipment.
- Perform diagnostic tests such as pure tone audiometry, tympanometry, speech audiometry, and OAE/ABR testing.
- Evaluate and diagnose hearing loss and vestibular disorders.
Treatment & Rehabilitation
- Develop individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans.
- Fit, program, and adjust hearing aids and assistive listening devices.
- Provide auditory rehabilitation and counseling to patients and families.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as required.
Clinical Procedures
- Conduct newborn hearing screening programs where applicable.
- Assist in cochlear implant evaluations and follow-ups.
- Perform ear impression procedures for custom hearing devices.
Patient Education & Counseling
- Educate patients on hearing loss, treatment options, and device usage.
- Provide counseling on communication strategies and hearing conservation.
- Support patients with long-term hearing management plans.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate patient records and reports in EMR systems.
- Ensure compliance with DHA / DOH / MOH regulations and facility policies.
- Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Equipment & Safety
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of audiology equipment.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols in clinical procedures.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Audiology or a related field (preferred: Master’s or Au.D).
License:
- Valid UAE License or Eligibility Letter (DHA / DOH / MOH) as an Audiologist.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Certification in Audiology or Hearing Aid Dispensing
- Experience with cochlear implant mapping is an advantage
Experience:
- Minimum 6–10 years of experience in audiology practice.
- Experience in hospital, clinic, or hearing center preferred.
- Experience with advanced audiological tests and hearing device fitting.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of audiological assessment and diagnostics
- Expertise in hearing aid fitting and programming
- Familiarity with audiology equipment and software
- Strong communication and patient counseling skills
- Attention to detail and analytical ability
Working Conditions:
